Sidney Colen has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of On Top of the World Communities for almost 60 years and his son, Kenneth Colen has served as the company's president since 1982.

Ocala, Florida has a steep history in horses. The current Paddock Mall and Central Florida Community College occupy what was once the Carl G. Rose "Rosemere Farm", the first horse farm in Marion County.
In 1939 the Rosemere Farm produced the first Marion County foal. The rich soil and temperate weather of Marion County turned out to be an excellent location for horses and livestock breeding.

1956 saw Ocala's first claim to fame when Ocala born "Needles" became the first Triple Crown winner bred in Florida, crossing the line first in the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes.
Other notable farms like "Ocala Stud" farm under the leadership of the famous Joe O'Farrell were established in 1958. By 1963 Ocala Stud farm was considered number one commercial breeding farm in America.

The number of horse farms in 1958 rose from 28 to more than 1200 today.
Ocala is uniquely located near the center of the state and is less than 90 minutes from the Atlantic coast and the Gulf of Mexico. It is even closer to the attractions of Orlando.
There are more than 600 lakes inside the Ocala National Forest serving as great hunting ground for fresh water anglers.

In addition to the Appleton Museum and Ocala Civic Theatre there are also such crowd pleasers as the Discovery Science Center and the Don Garlits racing museum as well as the famous Silver Springs where "The Creature From the Black Lagoon" was filmed and Johnny Weissmuller of Tarzan filmed most of his underwater and vine swinging scenes. Much of "Follow That Dream" with Elvis was also filmed in Ocala.

| Circle Square Commons is the newest planned area of On Top Of The World. It will strive to create a hometown feel where folks stole down the avenue lined with shops and beautiful shade trees.
An open-air market and meeting place where people meet and congregate, reminiscent of a slower, simpler time. The commons will include a community center, health and day spa, life options center and entertainment complex as well as shops and specialty restaurants.
